getting rid of your fluid fan {sc400}
ok so i wanted to use efans in my sc400 but i didn't know what to do with the fluid pump. so i tried plugging it and it froze up and distroyed my belt on my way to L.A. I dont know what happens if you leave it open i would assume that it will get dirty inside and freeze up, but the ls400 came with a clutch fan and efans. i am not sure if the efans work but you can use the clutch fan bracket to get rid of the fluid fan for good. I took off the fan and just used the bracket with some small spacers so the belt is the same and a/c lives!! lol. all you need is the clutch fan bracket which is 30 bucks at the junkyard and everything else is the same.

The fluid fan was specifically put on the SC models for performance. Clutch fans rob horsepower and e-fans rob the electrical system used for spark, fluid fans rob nothing and provide extra power otherwise used. This is why they did it on the Sc models (the sport coupe, ya know.....) and to remove it to DOWNGRADE for either electric or clutch would be asinine. This is why the family cruiser LS has one or the other, but not the fluid fan which is done strictly to boost HP output by eliminating power robbing cooling fan setups. It is infact pure genius.

that's all good but it gets in the way and is a pain when it stops working. My e fans do a good job of cooling my car and dont seem to stop my smooth acceleration. I dont even hear them. i guess if you dont plan to make any other mods to your sc then stay with the fluid fan but i like the new look and it feels like its a lil more responsive although that part might just be in my head and i do plan on moding my sc for more power just not sure which way to go.

It might increase the throttle response some. After extensive research from the brother websites, Lextreme and others, they choose the supercharger method or a TT setup for the V8. That is one very expensive motor to modify. Thats why I chose to drop in a 1JZ.

You are somewhat correct. Poeple dont understand that you can reuse the same headers, if you turn them around and then build from there. You have to relocate things to the trunk, but it is indeed much easier to do the modding to the rear.

true i think i am gonna go N/A with my sc4. I love the v8 and with the headwork im having done plus a manual conversion. thats enough power to drive everyday plus have some fun in the rain and then some. I have a sc300 in the garage that is Na-t supra internals, built head, tt headgasket, tt supra differential and rear brakes ls400 fronts and so on. so im am not really looking for a 500 hp v8 but 350ish would be nice

Any reason nobody uses the old standby of the E-fan conversion world -- the Taurus / Continental / Mark VIII set of fans? A good controller typically costs more than the fan unit but they are extremely reliable and readily available.
Having said that, I would be leery of going e-fan on a car that has such known issues with voltage at idle.
