300rwhp 4.0 V8 hardly qualifies for dragster material. That falls into the sports car category, which is exactly what we're trying to make it into. Even Jaguar uses stock superchargers. And in the aftermarket, BMW, Mercedes, and Acuras have more superchargers than turbos.

If you want to spend like $10,000 for 100rwhp, then buy a twin turbo kit, but I'll stick with a $5500 supercharger until I see a more practical ($$$) turbo system out there.
I like the idea of the initial cost of the supercharger vs turbo, but how much more practical is it really? at low boost a turbo system will improve gas mileage, supercharger will only decrease it.

Supercharger is only really cheaper as it has lower performance potential. Something decent in the area of 400+rwhp would require fuel, ecu, ignition etc for both supercharger and turbo. Only real difference then is mounts vs manifolds price. I'll take the turbo any day. Why pay 6 to 7k (because that would be what it would cost by the time you're done) and stop at 330-350, when you can pay 8k to 10k and go to 550+ ?

I think a budget turbo kit could be made for barely more expensive than budget supercharger. Instead of blower+mounts+belts, you get log manifolds+turbo.. not much difference in price there... but easier to intercool.

Displacement is not the measure of big-block/small-block. The determining factor is distance between bore centers.

Low boost helps gas mileage? I've never heard of an aftermarket performance kit increasing mileage.. and neither has Corky Bell.

I also ordered Nitrous Express. I still haven't put it in yet, It was supposed to get done all at the same time. But who know when it will go on now....

As for the supercharger versus Turbocharger.

I wouldn't mind supercharger because it takes alot less piping than turbo (winternal gear(loud) contained unit(like ATI procharger or powerdyne) centrifugal SC) would be my choice for suprecharger.

I was also under the impression that centrifugal type supercharger behaves alot like a turbo.

This was one of the reasons I wanted the SC, as stated above...I hope something comes through...guess I will have to get with my guys out here and do it myself.

I think a lot of big company dont see a market for the SC or the LS cars. That is why not too many company want to invest their resources into it.

I would say N2O would be the best bang for the buck, but if you want all out power, turbo will be the choice. I think Andy and Peter Scott is making a root style supercharger. This project seem to have direction and people are willing to pay for it. I think it will be less than $3,000. That is a hell of price. I hope that project will fly. I really like the root style supercharger. It give awesome low end torque and its easy to install.

Right now, their are two prototype twin turbos for the LS (mine was the first one . Mine and V8huntr. He is making 350 rwhp with 4 psi. Tuning is the key. Currently i am making 324.5 rwhp non-intercooled. As far as turbos, it will cost a lot more especially Twin.

lextreme: you bring up a good point but the thing with area51 is that they already installed it on 3 SC4's but all of the sudden they won't do it anymore. what gives there? I would understand if the system was under developement and they called it quits, but they already have all the knowledge to do it.....
