Thas odd, usually the Guinie pig gets the install for the cost of the parts wholesale. Then the vendor marks up the price of the kit to compensate for R&D costs and profit margin for the kit.

that is what I thought. they probably quoted him higher since it was supposed to be a one off production. Now that its going to be kitted they are probably trying to keep the profit dollar margin the same so the price is lower... thats my best guess.

Tha's probably what they want you to hear/think. That way when people hear that the kit costs $5K and compare to the $7-8K, they'll think it's cheap.

I got some numbers back from Area51.

Non-vvti 1UZ-FE SC400 pre 95 sc400(he's not sure of the exact year but its a non-vvti)

stock = 250-260HP or 175RWHP?

Area51 kit = 335RWHP on 8PSI

This was dynoed on Clayton Chasis dynanometer.

They are busy preparing for SEMA so they will call me with an update in 2 weeks.

They tuned this car to everyday reliability.

dyno sheet not yet available for release. They were trying to keep a tight lid on this until later but I guess the cat's out of the bag.

VS,

My buddy will be at SEMA and I was given the invite. I cant make it...now it really hurts that I will miss SEMA. Damn

I just called him and he will pump A51 for news and release dates.

I will but a kit that produces 335rwhp. That is just fine for me...sign me up. I have the non-vvti and I am ready to order. Period.

90-97 are non vvti 1uzfe v-8s, but only 90-92 are only for the LS400, since the SC400 debut in 92 but, yeah same engine.

anything after 97 are vvti, people should know it will only say vvti on the engine.

92-97: no vvti
92-95: OBDI
96-97: OBDII

I for one can't wait! It looks like I will get that student loan for next semester

just a thought, I saw that there is an Australian supercharger being sold for around 3k... that's a great price and all but the total void of any specifics is worrisome. I'm glad that A51 is going through the troubles of Dyno sheets and I'm sure a full list of parts will be released when it's ready. It makes me have confidence in their work when they can show the increases in hp.

I dyno'ed 190 rwhp and 200 r ft/lb torque (old plugs at 85k miles and a dirty air filter) but i also have an ecu upgrade which i think at least made up for that. 335 rwhp sounds GREAT!

*damn... this post isn't a great post count #

If you have the Weapon-R ecu you can have it reprogrammed to work with the turbo kit when it's done, and that should take about 800 bucks off the price.

Mad,

Tell me about your twin turbo kit from WR. Is this a reality?

Yes, it's real.. parts are coming in or are on order, Leo's going to take the car into his shop after SEMA. Hopefully we'll be done in December.
I'd buy the A51 kit but given what I'd pay, there's no reason for me to give up the extra hp and the flatter power curve, plus turbos are just a lot more fun.

Mad,

Tell WR to hurry up. I would also much rather have turbos. Get me 350rwhp without opening up the engine and a package price between 6-7500 and you got a deal. New parts, intercooled, fuel and timing control.

The first build up I see with dyno numbers listed above gets my business. Oh, it has to look nice too.

If we can run the pressure we want we might well surpass that mark... A51 said they wouldn't want to run more than 9 PSI.. so with that in mind the whole power band from shift point to shift point could well exceed 350 rwhp. Now THAT will make for some fast quarter miles...
