Default my car finally starts and stays running...with a new problem

Only problem is on a cold start the idle is at like 2500 and once it warms up it idled around 1600... way more than it did last time it ran. when I shift to drive, or reverse the rpms drop to where the car shudders and nearly dies, then they raise to almost normal, then drop, raise...you get the idea. I'm thinking vacuum leak/unmetered air entering between the tb and intake manifold from refusing that steel gasket every time I've worked on the car. any other ideas? I did notice the gasket isn't in the best shape so I pulled it off, cleaned up and used some gasket maker. once it cures ill fire it up and see what happens, but any insight would be good

Well, the main question was what else would cause a strong, although high idle in park and the done to drop to like 200 after shifting out of gear. I from all I've gathered, it was a vac leak symptom, but with this car its never been that easy

it is that simple boss a vacuum leak always causes major idle problems TB and intake manifold leaks are the worse if you removed your intake manifold use a oem gasket if its just the throttle body you can get by with a paper gasket
