Thumbs up W58 shifter bushings 92-94 sc300

This is a little more clear how too for the two shifter bushings causing the tranny to shift ruff

tools you need- phillips screw driver, ratchet with 10mm socket, extension, swivel for the socket, flash light

1.

2. remove shifter **** (twist counter clockwise)

3.remove shifter boot (pull up plastic frame, there are 4 clips holding it in)

4.open up cup holder and pull out

5. unscrew the 2 screws

6.remove the 6 screws so u can pull back on trim

7.unclip the 2 hazard and volume, a/c switch

8.unclip the cigar lighter

9.unclup the 3 connectors under the radio

10.now under the 4 corners of the boot there are screws the you need to replace

11.lift the boot through the metal bracket you just unscrewed. (this isn't the easiest may take you a little bit)

12.now lift the boot back so u can remove the other 4 screws holding the shifter to the housing (make sure the shifter is in neutral before removing these screws)

13.new pull the shifter out of the housing (that is one of the bushings u have to remove)

this is the green bushing that goes down below the two studs in next picture

14.clean out the inside and try not to let any of the green bushing fell down

15.install the 2 bushings (white to shifter and green to housing. (this is how the bushings will sit when inside the housing)

16. now all you have to do is install the shifter into the housing and reverse the steps. goodluck

Cool.

I've been wondering how to do this on the 95+ cars for years..I tried finding the bushing # and never had any luck. Closest I found was a Tundra piece or something like that.

?

+1

For a great write up....Just did this with the Marlin Crawler bushing set, and now the shifting is great....and I just saved myself $100 in labor that my mechanic would have charged me

other tools to add to the list: small pry bar(for all the plastic pieces), vaccum, razor blade(mine had the orignal shifter boot covering the last four screws in order to pull the shifter out which i just cut around the screws)
