Default NA or Turbo which is cheaper and worth it???

yes i have a 1993 Lexus Sc300 that i literally just got a month ago, and i have read alot of threads on here about turboing the 2jz-ge engines, or putting the 2jz-gte swap in, or even the 1jz, but havent really heard anybody say anything about a good NA built. I know of people that can get alot of horsepower on just the motor alone without having to turbo or supercharge them. So what i was wanting to know if anybody has done this on the stock 2jz-ge and what all ya did to it, and what kind of power numbers ya putting down. I dont want like a drag strip car or drift car just a nice horsepower daily driver

honestly man all this has been answered before, the 2jzge in NA form is pointless unless you plan to swap to a MUCH lighter car even then id still recommend throwing a turbo on it for more power then you'd get out of a built na.

what you need to do, is set up a goal with how much whp you want and how many $$$ you have to get you there.
That way you can figure out whats best, all setups whether it be 1jzgte 2jzge turbo'd or 2jzgte have their pro's and con's. If you want anything over 400whp its really just going to come down to preference since either way you slice it, you'll end up spending about the same amount when its all said and done.
Keep searching around, plenty of good info out there..just try to stay to current threads on the matter not ones from 2-3+ years ago. A lot of mind sets have changed and a lot of possibilities have opened up especially for the 2jzge turbo crowd.
Good luck.

i'm not talking about on our cars, i'm saying in general alot of people built engines up and can get a pretty good amount of power out of them with all motor

I see a lot of fast all motor cars like Corvettes, Camaros, Mustangs, and 350z's, but the 2JZ-GE is basically worthless without a turbo. Unless it's boosted, it will never see any real power. I doubt it could even hit over 200-210 rwhp without boost.

ok guessing turbo's the way. So where is a good reliable place to get a good turbo set up??? I have been told that ya dont really have to deal with anything internally as long as ya get a thicker head gasket and arp head studs, as far as turboing the car is this correct???

yeah that's right for 300-400 you definitely don't need to build anything on the motor.

you dont need to even change the head gasket for 300-400 just go standalone .

You should go for the NA project.

I for one would love to see(and hear) a 12.5:1, bored, stroked, fire breathing NA 2JZ with massive head work, huge, gnarly cams that refuse to idle, ITBs, and an equal length primary, custom long tube header that dumps through 4" open exhaust.

Now, you may have 20k+ invested to do it, but I bet you could crack 350whp And it would sound sick as all Hell doing it.

cuz i literally probably only have like 80 bucks in the car. I traded my 1993 Lifted Silverado for it even, and only thing i've done to it is put my cd player, subs and amp, rainguards and tinting the windows. Only thing is i'm on SSI disability, so gonna be kinda hard to come up with the funds to turbo it out like i really want

or you can just put some nice rims on it (browse the rims fitment guide) lower it a bit with a nice set of coilovers, and drive it some what civil like. but what do i know.

Well, or course, that's a given. I'm just saying as long as it is someone else's money, I think a crazy NA build would be cool to see
