Default Finally Some Progress (pic heavy) Update 4/18

My car has been sitting in a storage unit for quite a while now. When I got it I had a job, but I got laid off and my parents relocated to Washington DC. I'd With the apartment I'm living in now I haven't had the room or resources to work on the car. But, I found out that I qualified to go back to school. They have an Auto program at the local college near me so I took that up. I just started working on my car again after having no place to do it.

It's only the engine for now, but here's the progress pictures. Enjoy

More to come!

Sorry you got laid off, but hopefully you've postured yourself for a "rainy day" financial wise? On a side note, you're in the right spot to be able to work on your engine...all the right tools! Any pics of the car?

Sorry, here guys. Here are a couple links to old threads.

Picking up the car Link to old thread

More parts Link to old thread

As for the car. It's a 92 SC4, I plan to put the 2jz in with a single turbo. Hoping to hit between 500-600 hp. The block is a 92 GE and the head is a 94 GTE. I'll be running stock bottom end with new ring, bearing, head studs, ect.... For the car, I'm swapping in a black interior to go for a mostly stock look. I want to sound deaden the car and put a car-pc in it to run all the audio and other fun toys. I'm thinking I may get a CF hood and trunk.
That's about the plan right now. Things are bound to change as time goes on.

Partners for unemployment is paying for the classes so I have my financial aid to buy the parts as it's a class project.

Good luck man. Bring it out to another level car show this summer if it's done around August. It's a good time.

I'd love to, but I still don't have much of a place to work on the rest of the car yet.

Got the valves out and the block cleaned up.

Now to blow it out and clean out all the threads. next comes some last minute measuring, and then time to order parts.

It's Ampro's cleaning system that my school uses.

The farthest one is an oven, the second a blaster, and the third one is a shaker/cooldown.

Edit..... What color should I paint the block? I'm wanting a nice clean look.

Head already has a mild port and polish from what I can tell. I'm just replacing the valve guides and seals and grinding the seats.

nice job! i say color match your engine bay with your block. bright colors seem to be the jam lately. id love to do a teal block/engine bay(black accents) with maybe teal powder coated wheels on my black SC, haha.
