Default going w58 on my 1jz swap!!

I was wondering what clutch/pressure plate/flywheel I should get?

My car has 1jz, fmic, boost controller, exhaust, safc. I will single it later on but not soon. My goal is a streetable setup with good pedal feel. I want good grip but, I don't need a race setup. Any suggestions on tried and true set ups would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

I have an ACT XTreme HD clutch with street disc mated to a Fidanza 12lb flywheel. It took a while for me to get used to but so far i like it. The lightweight flywheel is definitely different in that acceleration and deceleration will throw you around a bit more. Also parking lot driving you might find yourself bucking a little bit more. If you're willing to work with a lightweight flywheel then go with the fidanza unit, otherwise just get a 2JZ-GE flywheel

So basicly the light fly will make it jerky because it is about to slow down quicker/speed up revs.

exactly. If you're able to anticipate this when you're decelerating/accelerating during normal street driving you can make it work, just be ready to spend some time getting used to it i.e. stop light to stop light. It took me a few weeks to really get used to it on my old 2JZ, then had to relearn when i threw it onto my 1JZ setup. It took a little longer with the 1JZ only because of the harder clutch that i installed with the swap. Don't be scared, you can work with it, you just need a little time.

W58 owners want to use a Sprung disk to minimize drivetrain shock, and keep that thing in one piece!

I already have a stock flywheel. Also my buddy has the f1and he was very unhappy with its performance. I have been told several times that people love the ACT clutch kits.

I am also going sprung, this is a daily so I want ease of use. Im not worried about the W58 vs R154 issue. I think the w58 will work very well for a longtime for me.

i'm looking to buy a new flywheel and didn't want to make a new thread but since ya are talking about clutch/flywheel, are the 7M, 1jz, and 2jzgte flywheels interchangeable w/ the 2jzge?

No. 1jz flywheel is for R-154 setups. 2JZGTE flywheels are dual mass for V16x, 7m flywheels have the wrong bolt pattern. The 2JZGE is the only flywheel that works on a 2J with a W58.

Correct, the way to think about it is: flywheel is to engine, as clutch is to transmission.

a super beefy clutch with a gte is death to the tranny.. id go r154 if you like 5spd. w58 is a good tranny but cant handle turbo very well its not a smooth power band its violent compared to a NA unless u plan on driving like a grandma so your tranny doesn't break, and at that point why did you swap a gte.. you swap a gte to haul *** and slam gears. trust me you don't wanna have to take the tranny off like 4 times..
