How had was it to put in the 2JZ-GTE motor in??? I really want to do this. Might take me a year or so to get all the fund's but I can buy a car fairly soon. Gotta replace the CRX. I feel so rice boi-ish in it. At least my MR2 had *****. Til it busted through a brick wall. Oops. Oh well. What should I start w/? Any specific year? Tranny? 300 or 400? Just need a starting point. Also do you have any idea on how much it costs to get all the parts after the car is purchased and then an install price? Wondering on whether to buy the motor first, or the car... I want a built motor to go in the car. Just need some Ideas. I'd say $25K. But maybe that just cuz I'm a dumb high school kid.

i'd get a SC300 5-speed; it'd be the easiest to swap a 2jz-gte into...
if you're going to do it yourself i'd recommend philauldrige's book where he swapped one in himself...
no need to build the motor; the 2jz-ge can handle about 700-800hp before needing a bottom-end upgrade...
and there are many (relatively speaking) SupraTTs with the 2jz-gte making over 900rwhp with the stock bottom-end... so if you're swapping over a 2jz-gte; there's no need to build it at all
the 95 year is the easiest year to swap the whole thing into because it has a wider tranny tunnel that will fit the V160 6-speed; whereas the earlier years required a BFH

I'm really curious as to who can truly vouch for the difference in the tranny tunnel for pre 95 SC300's.
If no one can vouch for this, then I'll just have to wait until spring to see if there is any truth to it.

with the stock j-spec 2jz-gte 280 hp, a clean one 25k. But one with a built motor, fuel system, turbo upgrade, fmic, cams, 6spd, multi disc clutch, supra TT rear end, full body kit, rims, brembos, exhausts, teins suspension-----hmm i say $50k

WEll I will say this when I was looking for a SC300 and before I knew of this board I was looking online and came across Clints website (www.turbolexus.com) and emailed him about a few things and then said hell I will just buy your car if you would sell it.. He said it would be forsale soon for (I think) the low 20's. I can't remember the exact number and **** I was going to buy it.. Then I emailed him and said ok I will take it but for some reason he wouldn't email me back... I even called his (?) shop turboimorts and some very rude guy (bad day maybe) told me Clint didn't except phone calls from anyone he would tell him I called... I called back a few times and well just figured he decided not to sell...Anyway moral of the story at least twenty something thousand I was going to pay that for a 92.....
