I'd put coilovers and buy a rebuild kit before you put a turbo kit on it.. turbo's work better with lower compression then stock compression on the ge motor they have head gaskets you can swap in to lower it

ya my car has the same mileage i put a turbo on ran grate for a month and noticed that it started bleeding everywhere the seals wont take it for to long and the auto trans went about the same time so now im investing in the 2jzgte with soarer trans a place down in arizona has the setup for 4100.00 and up depending on what you get
not a bad deal for quick horsepower

I didn't notice you mentioned it was an auto.. I'd do a 5 speed swap before a turbo as well

Jealous.... haha my future plans for my sc400. the 1UZ just costs too much to get some decent hp out of it

ya don't stay with the 1uzfe it will kill you trying to get the hp you want drop a 2jzgte in and you have already got more hp to start with and it will only get better with add ons you can get 400 hp with twins but to go be on that you will need to go single turbo plus fuel cut and speed cut defenders on or an after market ecu and this is where it starts to get spendy

If what you are asking is compared to *Most other engines, is turbocharging the Stock 180,000 miles 2JZGE a good idea sans superlative things like seal condition and such?

It's a JZ engine. Of course it is.

C'mon now!

You dont NEED to open the engine if its been adequately maintained. People telling you that you need to, dont know what they are talking about. Unless you plan on running over 600 hp, stock compression is plenty. BELIEVE ME.

Do some maintenance to make sure it runs correctly than source a kit or build your own.

Lol bro there's a member on here that boosted his SC at 318k miles so you're good. If you're still skeptical just rebuild your motor.

180k is not the part to worry about, its the current condition of the engine, many people do it with much higher miles than that.
There are many threads that cover exactly this info, so try doing a search for na-t and mileage and stuff like that.
Its all been covered, but if you think it hasn't after searching, thats the time to post a new thread.
