I just found some scoring on my cylinder walls. I'm going to have to order oversized pistons. Since I have a GE block, Should I stick to GE pistons, or get some GTE pistons. What brands should I look for or stay away from. I'd like to hit the 500-600 rwhp range.

pick up a 3.4l stroker kit... it comes with everything you will need )
and if you are in same boat as a lot of us. I would say GTE piston for the reason it will bring down your compression just a bit more.

I don't have that kind of money for a stroker kit. I believe the rods are still good so I should only need the pistons.

you can hit the 5-600hp with just a TT headgasket, so you don't have to install TT pistons, unless you want added safety (it will cost you more boost to make the same power though). If you need to drop compression to shoot for higher numbers, then I agree TT pistons is a good idea.

Are you saying aftermarket GTE pistons are more expensive?
I'm looking at CP 86.5mm at 8.5:1. I know it's safer and just need more boost to make the same power. Real quick, how does this effect performance as in spool time and or how does it make it safer?

Don't put low CR pistons in there. The lowest I would go is 9:1. CP, JE, even Wiseco are decent from what I hear.
