1997 SC300 ECU Compatible with 1993 SC300?
Can I swap in 89661-24510 for the 1992 1993 Lexus SC300 Engine computer ECM ECU 89661-24312 or am I asking for a lot of trouble?
THE SHORT ANSWER IS "NO".
Thanks for your help!

THANKS! Yes, intellectually I knew the cut-off year because I search for old cars using that criterion. I was too wrapped up in finding a solution while parts were potentially available to think straight.

I actually think it is going to be in the fuel system. Given the wierd brief spin-up noise I thought I heard, I suspect the fuel pump system - pump, relay, fuel pump ECU. My Lincoln spit out a caliper bolt, chewed up some stuff, and required my loving attention since the Lexus stopped working. I am just getting back to it today.

FINALLY - won't start - RESOLVED: The TIMING BELT had SLIPPED!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Thanks to 93MBS, MegaMax and all of the incredibly helpful members!
I parked my 1993 SC300 in the garage one night and the next morning it would not start. It tried to run once and it continued to turn over nicely but it would not catch.
After checking the obvious, then replacing the ECU ...drum roll...it turned out the timing belt had slipped! Now, this is a new high end timing belt and there really is no excuse but that is what happened.
I did not need the new MAF, ECU. I returned the NOID injector test lights. However, the timing is spot on, the valve clearance is perfect, the fuel has never been cleaner or the octane higher, and the platinum plugs, high tension wires, distributor cap, rotor, PCV, etc. did not go to waste. I am outta the garage!
Kind regards,
Wade

wrong thread completely but no a 1998 sc400 auto will not work on a 1993 sc400.
The 98+sc400 uses a 5 speed automatic and the 93 is the older type that uses the regular 4 speed kind, so it will not drive properly. good news is the 92-96 sc400 auto trans should not be difficult to find at all.
