Default The Check Engine Light thought...

My '92 SC300 has been loyal. Always. I go to Shell all the time for gas. The one time I use Chevron, the light turns on. Drove it on the freeway, it goes away. Fill up with Chevron again, light goes on again. This time, I "lost" a 240SX in traffic, and it went away again! It hasn't returned, but I wonder...

Why is it doing this? Is it the gas? Or is something else questionable?

If your car is stock, its likely just a coincidence.

Check your O2 sensors, might be time to change them. Or it could be a total fluke

A coincidence? Twice? Under the same circumstances? Oh, I also forgot to mention the gas tank was reaching almost half when the light goes off.

88supramki, that's the only other thing I can think of. Works when more throttle is applied, lacking when it's driven slow for too long.

since 98% of the time CEL is related to emissions...I'd check O2 sensors

im going to go out on a limb and say cats. It could be a bad cat or a crappy o2 sensor that thinks it's a cat. Only way to really find out though is to pull the codes, otherwise you will most likely waste your time
