So both the non VVti and VVTi will make 400rwhp , on stock 1jz trans , you just need a decent Single Turbo 60-1 and you are there.

I think the stock 1jzgte vvti stock single will make 460-470hp which is about 400rwhp so you may not have to upgrad the Turbo if you do go that route..

You need the pinout for both harness for the 1jzgte and the 98 SC300 and go from there.

GLWS with whatever Engine you decide to go with!
I want to use a non vvti for easy of tuning. Is the wiring going to be more difficult than the earlier sc swaps? Any other issues with the swap other than the return fuel line?

you keep saying "non-vvti for the ease of tuning."

why?

any tuner can "tune" the valve timing.

I wouldn't go that far. Sometimes "any tuner" can't even tune a car without VVT-i. How many VVT-i 1JZs are running around (the US) with 400whp? Like 1?

okay, let me rephrase; i would say the majority of paid tuners who tune 2jzs (especially some of the bigger name shops) can tune valve timing. there are lots of people out there with 2jzgte VVTI engines, right? who tunes them? it's the same system as the 1jzvvti. and if you can't get it tuned, you can just lock it. disclaimer: i've never actually tuned valve timing personally.

and yes, i agree the term "tuner" is thrown around pretty loosely. hell, some people even call me a "tuner," but i don't actually know what i'm doing, and i tell people that

here is a good explanation of the 1jz vvti stuff, for anyone curious: http://wiki.jzx100.com/index.php/VVTi

First not everyone on here is willing to spend $1100 on Tuirbo manifold from japan
Not everyone is willing to spend $1500 for Power FC so this one off the main reason people don't like to mess with them and then the fact that you don't have alot tuner that can tune around the VVTi.

The the harness situation , some don't know how to do the wiring and they don't wanna pay tweak so they rather get a non VVTi from a Soarer and just extend the harness.. etc

SCSIN" Who are the followers? why the name calling? though

yeah i personally like the 1jzVVTI engine much better. very cool engine and insane boost response on the stock turbo.

that's all good info you posted there, SCSIN.

the link the guy posted earlier to the supraforums guy is CRAZY. if i had had that guy's documentation i could have done my swap in like 2 days!

As for that yellow topped motor, that is the one (1) 400+ 1JZ I mentioned before I am not speaking literally, there may be 3 or 4 including bigwavesc's, but they are very rare. Don't get me wrong, they are great motors, but dollar for dollar a simple old non-vvti 1jz is going to make way more power.

Yes, power can be made with VVT-i. No argument there. If you have the extra money to spend then I highly recommend the VVT-i.

^ That is correct and to duplicate that setup it will cost you an arm an leg , it's dexlex engine it's in his IS300 with patch harness running AEM EMS.Custum exhaust manifold , billet 62, fuel etc...

Cartmill ,
Looking at the pinout it looks like the vvti doesn't fire in batch, you have 10/20/30/40/50and 60 those are the injectors pins.

yep, you appear to be correct there, mr Quick.

the pinouts i have on my computer here: two show pairs and two show sequential. pairs must be the older 1jz, sequential = vvti ?

i have been living a lie.

that guy's thread on supraforums is awesome. i want to do another 1jz vvti swap now

I have a 99 sc300 and while researching on possible swaps, there was not much forum information on 98+'s. What I found out was that our vvti setups are identical to 98-01 gs300's(even down to the pioneer amplifiers.) 98-01 gs300s are notoriously easy for their swaps to 2jzgte vvti swaps. Its a plug and play swap and the only wire that need to be cut and extended is the temp sensor wires . And the turbo 4 speed tranny will hold more power than our 5 speed. You need the front half drive shaft from the turbo swap.

I would love someone on here to document a 2jzgte vvti swap for 98+ sc300's. Easy and fairly cheap as the engines I've seen go for around 2 grand. Im missing a few things.
Read up on the 2jz swaps for gs300's.

I will be documenting my 1jz vvti swap into my 95 as soon as I get my clutch. Fortunately my 1jz vvti is out of a soarer with rear sump oil pan. If anyone is near the philly area they can come by and help

The OBD2 will not work unless you pigyback the stock USDM ecu. He is on the aristo ECU so the OBD2 port will not be functional.

If the US had 2jzgte vvti you can use that ECU and the OBD2 will not.

This is perfect 1jzgte vvti single setup , and MVP motorsports sells this kit !!
