BIZARRE tranny issue, please help!

well it sounds like you are way more mechanically inclined then i am doing all of this work. i dont htink anything you have done so far caused it tho because mine started doing it even tho i did not change any of the fluid or anything. when you find out what it is let me know what fixed it

It seems to be the drive valve, so you might want to check that. That's what the shop said, but it's not done yet.

keep me posted on how it goes does your car also take off to 35-60mph wihtout touching the gas like mine does? ive done some reaserch and first think im doing is checking for vaccum leaks and then im going to attempt to claibrate the throttle position sensor i and my throttle body

Old thread - sorry. What was the root cause of this issue? Mine is doing this. All other gears perform great; upshifts, downshifts are fine.

FWIW, my issue ended up being internal to the transmission. Hard parts had to be replaced as they had welded together and basically kept the transmission in drive in every gear.

Note that my symptoms were a bit different than OP:
  • P - Slight push forward
  • R - Forward and backward at the same time. Basically in Park.
  • N - Same is L.
  • D,2,L - Normal.
