Default is this okay? AND what do else should i do while adjusting valve clearance?

first question is: is this okay? i figure i can still put the vacuum hose over this even though it snapped ( damn arizona weather) ...if its not okay i guess ill source another valve cover to take the piece from. im not sure if that would prohibit the flow of air or what. i need your opinions ASAP!

secondly. what else should i do while im doing the valve clearance adjustment. the manifold is a pain in the *** to take off so i figured id clean up the sludge, change plugs,gaskets/grommets...mmmm and what else should i handle while im here! thoughts?

if youre not sure what process im taking to see how far in i am: its here

EDIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!! also does anyone have any tips for removing shims without using the SST (or removing cams)? this is the first time and i could use a better explanation of how to use the two screw driver + magnet method. google isnt providing clear enough pictures or descriptions! thanks

Get a new PCV valve to replace the snapped one. Valve cover gaskets if they're leaking (oil in the spark plug valley). Also, it'll probably be easier to take out the camshafts once you've measured your clearances.

it will probably still work but the vac hose will bend funny, like if you were using a supra tt one on a ge.
I have gotten a new one from the toyota dealer before it wasn't too expensive really.
