For the JZ why not mill the bell housing down to where you have full spline engagement?

Thats a good question, but I would think it has something to do with the large amount that would need to be removed, and the fact that the bell housing on the 350z trans is not removable. EDIT the bellhousing is removable.
You would have to mill it down attached to the trans which may be an issue not really sure.

Question, I just measured from the edge of the block to the top of my W58 shifter and it's 30". Measured the 350z with the adapter plate, and its just under 39". The examples in this pic seem like it would place it around 35" or so. What did you do exactly to deal with that?

That's a pretty significant difference....35" would put it in the cupholder....

Looks like the stock interior trim may not work as-is then.

Thanks for that pic. I suppose I"ll cross that road later. Picked up one of those billet shortened brackets.

Got it off ebay. The day after I ordered it, I found out the guy selling these swap kits would have just modified the stock bracket for half the price. Oh well.

Just search for it on ebay . 350z shifter mount or 350z shifter bracket.

Otherwise you can just have the guy selling the kits modify the stock one for half the price. Wish I woulda done that and saved $100, oh well.
