Default Turbo kit on my 2jz ge?

Ok. So I have a 1992 sc300 2jzge and I have been talking with my father about putting on a turbo kit. The problem is, is that we have read and heard many biased opinions. Some say that that the head I the bottom end won't hold up to the Powe and say it need modifications and etc... Don't know much about all that... An others say that you can bolt on the kit as is and have no worries or extreme modifications or anything like that. Any info and pics are mutch appreciated. Also can someone list all of the exact parts in a kit needed to completely install? Thank you very mutch.

Sincerely, vince

Dude your in florida the capital of na-t sc300's and gte sc300. I would start meeting up with some of those guys and get some info from them. Your stock motor is fine to turbo and can handle alot of hp.

Ok... Soooo I checked out that link about the debate, and now I'm really confused, idk if I need to just swap my ge for gte, or if I should just by the turbo kit or what. From what I've researched and learned, putting a turbo kit on a ge requires more then just bolting in on. I've read you have to change the ecu, and head gasket and wiring hardest and just a whole bunch of stuff. Honestly this is all new to me and I know nothing of this engine. It's very complex in my eyes. Please help me

Think about it this way....what are your power goals? 400-450? Go NA-T. You'll spend less than half obtaining that power goal with your GE than you would a full swap to GTE. If you're shooting for 600+ GTE might not be a bad idea. However, any time you go big power, you have the risk of losing the reliability of the car.

My advice. Figure out what you want the car for. 400hp Street car? 600+ highway monster? Then do your research and figure out which would be the most logical platform for you!

Ok so I've done some research and my goal for hp is any where from 375 to 500hp. No higher really. I would be very happy with the mid 400 range. The only concern I have really is if I buy a turbo kit, can or will I have to.....

.just bolt it right up and that's that?

. Do I have to buy a new tranny?

Will the engine, valves, cylinders, etc.. Hold up to a turbo?

. What modifications need to be done?

Thank you all very mutch for helping me because I'm at a stand still with my car and dnt know where to turn. Your wisdom and knowledge is mutch appreciated!!

How many miles are on your beast? That might be the deciding factor if you want to slap a headgasket on if you go the na-t route. And are you auto or manual?

Ok here is it..

If you buy a brand name Turbo kit , BL, ETS etc.. it's bolt on.

if you get the ebay special or some random kit, it will require a little bit of modification or replace the cheap parts with brand name stuff...

You stock engine will be fine you don't need to touch the engine, it all depends on how much money you are willing to spend.

What tranny are you running? if you are auto you will need a built auto , some says you can use the TT auto .. i have never used that so don't quote me on that , i don't know if it's true or not unless you are using a standalone it might be possible.

if you are manual you will need a better trans and good clutch.
