Default Hydraulic Actuator

Does anyone know if you have to compress the hydraulic tensioner for the timing belt before you install it? I ordered a new OEM tensioner and the dealer said it was compressed in the box, but I read that you have to compress it yourself. Also do you have to compress the old one before removal?

Hard to believe, but I guess no one has ever run into this. The new OEM actuator is already compressed and locked into place with a pin you have to remove after installation. You don't have to compress the old one for removal.
