^^^ Oil was the first susupect since the old owner told me the car sat for months on the driveway but that wasnt it. Also did the coil pack thing today but nope, still ticks. So I guess Ill check valve clearance next week.

Checked the clearance today, I found two on the intake side that were >0.010in and then 2 on exhaust side that were too tight <0.010in. Hopefully I can get away with just swapping them. The ticking sound louder on the intake so I am those 2 that are out of spec are the culprit.

Old owner was saying that 3 angle job was done to the head. I cant tell wheather thats true or not, but if it is means somebody may have accidentally put them in the wrong place. Shims that were out of spec are right accross from each other. All were # 4 cylinder, intake was loose and exhaust was tight.

Yup, I've been looking for the sst shim remover but I'm gonna have to order it online. My friend works as service tech at toyota and he Said they don't carry it. I checked auto zone, freight harbor and some local auto parts supply and they dont have either. Any of you guys from LA area wanna let me barrow your sst for a day? Lol
