Signal Auto 2JZ-GTE swap w/ 6 spd for $7,500
Sorry, I don't have a scanner... this ad was taken from La Auto Guide (11/1 to 11/15 issue) where a lot of Japanese shops post ads. Anyway, just wanted to let you guys see this; I'm not sure if it's a misprint but the other prices seem right. I just sold my RX-7 and ordered a MB a month ago but if I had seen this ad, I think I would have bought an SC300 instead.

Interesting, you should get more info on it. I am guessing that you would get a stock 2JZ-GTE(320hp), the 6-speed Getrag and you would have to take it from there. Although it would only cost about $1500 to bring hp up to 450 from there .

Yeah, didn't see the "tuning from Japan" part. BTW the Japanese version of the 2JZ-GTE has 276hp(280ps) .

They have smaller injectors, no EGR, different ECU, smaller ceramic turbos, etc etc. You would have to spend some money to make it into close of US spec. Now that you come to think of it this deal is not exacly a deal. I did hear that people can get this motors cheaper.

... interesting, so for once, the U.S. market got the better version of something. I was assuming it was just like other cars in the Japan that really produce more than the rated ps.

Actually potatoBBQ, you were right, both the J-spec & U.S. spec 2JZ-GTE's are/ were underrated. Many stock Supras(US) dyno in at around 299RWHP although I have seen that # fluctuate from car to car between 291-301RWHP. J-spec GTE's also dyno much higher than they should officially but I don't recall the #'s off-hand.

I thought the rule was 300ps
Anyways, doesn't another engine importer sell these? Are these modded or just JDM stock? The reason why I am asking is that Signal Auto is not cheap. Another engine importer probably could get these for much cheaper. They are reputable though and they open on Sundays too.
