Another 2JZ-GTE question...
Ok. What all do I need to make my "Supra" in sheeps clothing?
1) Any specific year better than another?
2) 5 speed vs. Auto tranny (want to get a Supra 6 speed tranny too).
3)List of Item's I'll need, and maybe just an estimate price.
4)What customization will have to be done?
I am looking to just get the entire Supra effect using as many stock components as possible, just to get things rolling. Plans from there. I did a search on topic but everyone alwayz wants to jump the gum and go straight for 500+HP. Trying to be realistic here. Liked the Lexus since I saw it back in 4th grade (1994) at an auto show in San Antonio. I'm still in high school, but am saving up. Just wanna know some more info on how to get a SC300 to just run w/ a 2JZ-GTE engine in it. I know I can't afford a TT MKIV, but this might be even better, though I don't know how much more the Lexus weighs than the Supra. Thx. for any info addressing any and all of my questions.

i neva understood this issue...
how come the SC3 after adding VVTI in '98 has the exact same HP #'s.
but the ES3 after adding VVTI in '99 increased 10 hp?
Was there more work done to the ES ?

OK thanks for the info...I just got a reply from CTC Motorsports in which he wrote...
"Make sure you get the entire harness, intake, turbos, everything."
So I'll need a:
1. motor
2. tranny
3. ECU
Should I do a standalone fuel managment system???
I'll go through CTC Motorsports for all of my Lexus to Supra needs. I thought about ImsoRt Racing in Lewisville, but I think I'll pass on that one, and save that for building up my CRX Si.

dunno about the standalone unless its a AEM unit...
there's not much info out there to ride on when using something like a Haltech...
if you REALLY want a standlone go buy a FAST standalone; it tunes itself basically when coupled with a wideband O2
other than that; the standard alphabet soup has been proven to work just fine... VPC, AFC, AVC-R, etc

AEM is probably a smart idea. Thats the route I'm going. For what you'll spend on a TT ecu, vpc, afc, boost cut controller, you can get the AEM, with a boat load of other features. Granted there is a much larger learning curve to the AEM, nevertheless its a better bang for your dollar. (Datalogging, etc..)
Good luck with your swap.
I'll post all the details of my project as they come along.

you need the motor, tranny, wire harness, ecu, 6spd rear end, drive shaft (lengthen 6 inches), trottle cable. US-spec easier. The J-spec u need the motor, wire harness and ecu to match, can not mix with the US-spec. The vvti-GTE same.

AEM
if I were you, I would not even bother buying a AEM stand alone, since they are hiring poeple who can fix all the problem they have and they will have... I would go with HKS fcon v pro if you want real stand alone..
you can buy it or order it from signal auto CA....
Fconv pro is the way to go if you want to make your ride faster and safer...
poeple might say,, well how am I going to tune the Fcon.. well they can tune the car for ya...
its just like my car... hehe I am the only one who has this set up, and its too good...
finishing putting new set up on my car... will be big number!!!!

or from sp engineering. we are a hks pro dealer shop.
sp-power.com AEM suck ***. They gave us one to try on the supra, still slower then the stock ecu. The stock supra TT ecu si twin rom, very fast by itself. Come on cold air intake company making turbo ecu. They better stick to the NA hondas

AEM
AEM is not bad stand alone but if you comprare to Fconv pro then it is totally different story.
well SC2JZ-GTE sounds like you got heck of set up on your car and why aent you use a Fconv pro ,,,,,, I bet you got alots of potentional on your motor and your setups if you quit using Gforce stuff... and you guys are HKS pro shop right???
and I tuned couple freind of mine who has a supra with aem but they are not slower then stock.. that is for sure. well I guess I was lucky to tune their car better than stock ECU..
I dont like to use AEM because, if I ran into some softwear problemsm then there is no solution for anything, because they have no clue whats the problem is.

2JZ conversion
For all practical purposes, all year Supra MKIV 2JZ engines are mechanically identical.. The OBDII versions (beginning '97, I believe) used a different ECU, and possibly harness. If you are buying the complete front clip (cheapest way to go, then I would definitely look for the pre-OBDII years, you'll have much less difficulty interfacing to your SC300. As stated above, there is no such thing as VVTI on the 2JZGTE engines
