well, im back, unfortunately

what are the odds the maf I just put in went bad? it was used from the yard, but it seems fishy

I drove the car every day for about 10 days or so. then I took out the old drivers seat to put in my bucket seat. i welded the little tabs to the sliders in the car, finished the welds outside the car, and not I have a bucket seat

then I plugged the battery back in and it ran fine

but once it warmed up, same symptoms as before. jerking at 2500 rpms under acceleration and when in neutral, it occasional sounded like the motor was stumbling/hestitating. the rpms would drop about 200 and then recover over and over (this happened a couple times)

ill go try another maf, then repost my results here

thanks for all of the help you guys, I really appreciate it

Here's how to test the MAF.

Didn't really wanna read everything, but have you set the TPS to spec? Next thing I would check would be the distributor, something to deal with ignition, like wires, spark plugs, coil packs and/or fuel injectors...

Before replacing it again, I would definitely check the MAF using the ohmmeter just to make sure. Could even be your TPS again lol...

So what it could be: Un-calibrated TPS, Fuel pump ECU, ECU, Fuel pump, MAF...????
Is there any CEL? If there is pull the codes to see what comes up.
Read through these threads. Don't start just replacing thing's you don't need to though.

alright, thanks. no check engine light that I noticed, I will double check today and try testing a few different things with the multimeter i have. hopefully Ill find something

could the maf or tps alone prevent it from starting? or would those just cause bad running once it is running

not starting seems to me like it would me more like ignition coil or something like that

Here is another thread to check out. https://www.clublexus.com/forums/per...-starting.html
Could be ignition coil as well.
Just test the MAF and see if it broke already. We'll go from there.

i put in a different tps (I have a collection of them now) and adjusted it all the way counterclockwise, however, Im not sure if it is in the right way/adjusted properly, because anything other than maxed out counterclockwise and it doesnt run well, and too far clockwise the car will shut off. it ran fine tonight though

crank angle/position sensor is another cheap part that i would replace, it can possibly be a reason for all the above problems
