On my sc300, when I first start the car the oil light stays on for a few seconds. If I let it sit for a about 15-20 min and come back out and start it, the oil immediately goes off as soon as it starts.. I'm positive it's not the bearing. Do you think the pump could possible be going out or could the lil valve in the pump be loosing pressure after sitting a few ours.

how does your oil look after a change, and what viscosity are you running? have you checked the level recently, you could be loosing or consuming oil, also you could have possible sludge issues, but it isn't abnormal for it to stay on for like a second on cold starts. Not sure if the pumps get weak, i thought they work or they fail.

Get it to a shop that can put a mechanical gauge on it.
Prove the pump is supplying the pressure & you may have an electric gauge/wiring issue.
No pressure & you know immediately what's up.
Bearings & cam lobes don't last very long if starved of lubricant.

I haven't noticed any smoke but then again I haven't really looked. I'm going to do the timing belt this week and a full blown tune up and check compression while I'm that far. Better safe that sorry I guess.
