Default another 1.5jz question

since few and far in between people actually do these i haven't seen a sticky for a full faq on these. so heres some loose questions i have???

-will i need a true stand alone ONLY, or will a 1jz ecu work, will a map ecu work, or do i need a power fc or aem ONLY??

-can i use the stock ge high compression pistons and rods for maximum hp or boost?? or do i need some gte internals??

-do i need some special stroker pistons and rods or even a crankshaft????

-are the sensors and wiring on the block part that much of a pin to switch over??
and do i need a complete harness from a gte for the bottom end??

-do i need anything or a complete ge harness for the bottom end??

-so a regular gte head gasket will work right?? do 2jzgte headgaskets work with 1jz heads?? and for a 1.5 do i need a specific thickness??

1.5 jz is as simple as a tt head gasket and a 1jz head on the ge block just use the ge timing belt every thing else is plug and play.

the water pipe between the water pump and upper water neck needs to be extended.

tt head gasket

arp studs

new oil pump

1jz stock ecu is junk...

what kind of power are you aiming for?

well nothing too crazy from the start something from bhp-400whp. again nothing to modest from the stock. iam looking at my options here. i have a ge block sitting in my garage now.

again what about pistons and compression?? will a gte head gasket aleviate that or is there a certian threshold with psi i can use on "cleaned" ge rods and pistons??

i'd like to make 20psi if needed on a rainy day.

Depending on what year ge engine he has 92-95 doesn't have the provision for the crank sensor.

96-00 has a crank sensor on the oil pump.

You suppose to use gte oil pump on gte block and ge on ge blocks ,gte pumps on ge will change the oil pressure .

And I never use the same oil pump twice regardless!

so, wouldn't a gte oil pump perfom better on a turbo engine??

and as far as plugs go would this really be plug and play?? or would some wiring modifications have to be made?? iam getting conflicting reports on this??

No it will make way to much oil pressure and kill you bearings etc, Gte has oil squirters and a ge does not.

Why is it that this 1.5J thing is still such a phenomenon?? This is a 2J with a 1J head the block is 3 litre/ 86mm bore 86 mm stroke so please let me know when the head has the ability to remove a .5 litre? The 1J is a 86mm bore and a 71.4mm stroke hence the reason it revs like a bike!
I know the community has garnered the name for it but why must we go over this like a million times if it was the end all cure all then Toyota would have done it 20 yrs ago.

BTW Omar is totally correct the 1JZ oem computer is garbage so use a 2J GTE and call it a day.

Sorry to Jack the thread but it just getting old, the info on this stuff is everywhere
