I still have the K&N intake on...and ran some more examinations to see if my observations were consistent...

I'm about almost empty on my tank of gas and I only got 266 miles so far...I dont think i can make it past 300! Gonna wait for this weekend to see whats the total MPG when the orange gas warning light comes on..

ok i was at 150 when my tank was half full this week and i didnt fill it up all of the way...at the line before the E on the meter i was at 300 i made it another 50 miles no problem...the light came on at 333 miles i filled up again at about 352 miles...the reason why it was low was cause i didnt maximum fill the tank like i usually do...

My suspicions are clear...I got a total of 302 miles per tank after my low gas light came on..! Im going to run these tests over again to confirm that that is the correct number...Overall I didnt get a chance to run a lot of highway miles..just a lot of stop and go traffic from living in NY and all...

In conclusion, Dont get a K&N intake if you want to waste gas...I'm just going to leave mine on simply because I'm too lazy to take it out and it looks my engine look rather nice...lol Mayb when I feel like it i'll put the stock air box back in...

My next move will be to make a heat shield for it and see what happens from there...

I have never gotten any better than 290. I usually get 260-270 per tank. I am jealous of everyone who gets close to 400.

Hey 4HUN don't feel so bad I get the same MPG as u do, about 280-290 per tank. I don’t think its the way we drive because tried not flooring it past 4 RPM and I still only got 300 to one tank. So I think there's something else up wit our cars. If anyone knows any solutions please share it with us. Oh and by the way I have a cold-air intake with a heat sheild, I don't know if that has made any difference.

When driving to Florida from Texas . We were getting around 400mph+ and I never saw the light . The SC300 is my wife's work car and she only gets about 275 in stop and go traffic.

It all depends on where/how you drive it .

And I have the stock airbox/filter in there ..

ehhh...i think he meant MPG not MPH!

Only a airplane can go 400 mph...

no car can go 400...anything going over 200 is going to float in the air and fly....

man, even 400mpg is incredible... i mean with the 20 gallon tank the range for the sc should be 8,000 miles!!!

The most I've ever gotten out of a full tank till when the light comes on is 420 miles (when I filled up it said 19.6xxx gallons) so I was almost empty. But I drove between 65-70mph (when I first got my SC400) with almost no local driving (except when i was leaving the city) and I was driving alone with no passenger.

Now I get anywhere between 315-375 (with no light comming on) miles to the tank with 1 passenger and 10% city 20% stuck in traffic and 70% driving highway between 65-85mph.

Above averages taken over 40k miles in about 18 months.

I also installed one of those magnetic fuel atomizer (the one that installs in the gas line) and I guess that can be helping me get extra mile or 2 per gallon.

I have stock filter

VS- you are kidding about that magnetic fuel atomizer, right?

And One HoT SC400, you say "Dont get a K&N intake if you want to waste gas...". After filtering out your double negative, it looks like you are saying a K&N intake saves gas. Is that what you meant to say?

As for some of you other fellows, thanks for the posts, but saying you get "x miles per tank" is meaningless to anyone else but you, since we all fill our tanks at different levels of "emptiness", and different gas pumps automatically shut off at different levels of "fullness". Take one minute and do the math, and then you'll have something worth posting.

I've been recording my SC4's gas usage since 1999, and I've used 1268.2 gallons to go 22899 miles = 18mpg (50/50 city highway) .

perry absolutely not kidding about the magnetic fuel atomizer. I had it installed for a while now. I didn't expect to see the 15% that they claim but its more like .75-1% fuel savings(not worth it )
In my post I also indicated that I got 420 miles (when I filled up it said 19.6xxx gallons) so roughly 20.xxmpg(somewhat informative.) to make more sence of everything, my mileages are 90% the same route and when I fill up its always between 16-18 gallons so (317-375 miles per fill is a good questimate) that an SC should yield a realistic average of 18-20mpg driving 10% city 20% traffic and 70% highway.

Perry -
i'm sorry if you found this particular posting a waste of bandwith but I thought it was a good gauge of accurate mileage one should be getting out of their SC since I also do take good track of my mileage (but since I drive about 25k per year adding up all the gallons of fuel from my records is a bit too time consuming. I hope you took no offence to my worthless post.

vs- I don't see how you can determine a 1% change in your gas mileage, since you can only calculate to "roughly" 20.xx mpg. One percent of that is "roughly" 0.20 mpg.

And you should read my posting more carefully before taking offense- I said "some of you other fellows", not "all of you".

VS-
You've always had very informative posts, which is the reason I come to this forum. My comment was meant to encourage others to be equally informative.

lets all smile more

Perry: I didn't mean to get all pissy at you. I'm sorry. I was out of line. I don't mean this in any sarcastic way or anything. I am being sincere. Bonus and compensation discussion is happening today so I'm still very edgy.. still no excuse for me being out of line. But do accept my appology. I'm going to go stuff my head in the sand now.
