Shifter Question ?
Hey Club Lexus
i have a 1992 sc300 (automatic) and im trying to remove my shifter but can't seem to take it out
I've searched for almost 5 weeks on DIY's and Any info the only place i even found a diagram was sewell and i want to know if i need a special tool to remove it .
i have a friend who works for toyota and he said i need a SST Is this true ?

You don't need anything special but a 12mm socket and a 12mm wrench. The shifter assembly itself as a whole is bolted to floor board with four 12mm bolts. Under the car you have the linkage which is connected to shifter with a 12mm nut. I just replaced my shifter with a 98 gated and it literally took me twenty minutes. You'll need to remove the console to get it out but that's easy also.

im replacing the whole unit and the long bolt that joins the shifter to the chassis is what i wanna know how to remove.. my whole old shifter is bent and needs to be replaced in my other sc it had to be bent out but there has to be another way to remove it
