Red face Speedometer broken, Odometer and all other work fine

Cant be the first guy to have this issue. Speedometer broken (will not move, car still on jacks), the Odometer and all other gages work fine. Anyone had this issue and any Ideas on how to get it to work?

We need more input than this...

Swap?
Correct year cluster?

You mean the tach works, but no speedo, or did I misread the thread?

I say the motor behind the needle is broken. I have one if indeed that is what it is.

What troubleshooting have done so far??

Sorry, my mistake for not being clear. 92 SC 400, All the gages work with the exception of the speedometer. The Odometer works( would have thought they use the same input) fine, but no speedo. The car runs but is up on jacks, so all I can do is put it in gear and let the wheels spin. No trouble shooting done as of yet. I have not banged on the dash as of yet since I just discovered that tip on the forum. If that does "fix" it, is it safe to assume it is the motor?? If it doesnt do you have any other ideas? I will try the "bang" theory later on the afternoon.

Yup most likely the motor gave up. The bang bang method will work if the motor still has some life left in it. Mine gets stuck from time to time and a quick BAM on the head gets it to stop messing around and start working,

I have one if you find that it is the motor itself.

I hit the dash with the car in drive and the speedo started to work. However, it seemed to be reading lower than it should. will have to wait and see how it does when we drive it. Thanks again, will be in contact if I need the motor

If motor is on the way out, it will be off. Mine is reads 5MPH lower until I reach 20MPH, accurate until 60~65 MPH and low by a few miles after that. I dont mind it, whenever I feel the need to replace it I'll just replace the entire cluster with one of the other 2 sitting in storage.
