Question Specific questions before DIY transmission R&R

Hello all!
Well... This is my FIRST Lexus. I was GIVEN a 93 SC400 as payment for electrical work & a timing job on an RX300.

So... I learned the SC's tranny was NEVER SERVICED IN ITS 200k mile life... And is now TOAST.
I've bought a replacement from a reputable local salvage... And I'm planning to do the replacement soon.

I've done substantial homework on the job... But several questions remain.
Is it absolutely necessary to completely remove the drive shaft on this model to pull & replace tranny? Or... Can I simply remove the front flange bolts & center support?
Also... Is it necessary to completely remove the cats or can I just disconnect the front flanges & drop the front sections away?
I've stabbed several transmissions before... But again, this is my first Lexus.
Any help would be greatly appreciated...

That would do. Remember that this trannys only accept Toyota Type IV oil in them.

Thank you MMCtuner. Interesting you should mention fluid... The fluid remaining in the salvage transmission I've acquired is delightfully clear & clean. Given that, I think it would be wise to just refill when I get it in, as opposed to removing filter etc. I'm told the transmission was shifting quite smoothly before it was pulled from the wrecked donor car.
