Hermosa,
Before you go thru all that effort, you may want to aska smog shop what they think. They may tell you that the obd tampering qualifies for the air quality act and that huge fine. In essence, I am just warning that you may not want to risk it and instead find a different method of solving this issue. I know that other shops have installed turbos in vvti engines and would have run into a similar ordeal.

The ECU pins should match. I remember looking at the ECUs in the SC400 and they kept the pins matching between years. It won't hurt to swap them and see if there is a difference. The info will help all the future moders too.

Okay the car is running now but needs some work. I was getting 7mpg:eek: until I got the car tuned.
Here are some more items needed that are not included in the kit:
Intake tubing
Blow off valve
Fuel Pressure regulator
heatshielding for the turbo
heatshielding for the manifold
One connector was actually dripping onto the manifold.
The car had lowered compression but I think my bottleneck is fuel right now. I have 440CC injectors but without the FPR I think there is not enough fuel. I couldn't make more than 240WHP right now at 9PSI. Feels okay but I need to solve this. Thing is that the 240WHP is consistent completely across the powerband from 3500RPM up to 6500RPM. I think with the FPR that is boost sensitive that I can get it to climb higher at higher boost.
After the tuning I am getting better mileage.
More updates after I get the next steps done. I will not hammer it until I get some shielding.
Any thoughts, criticisms, suggestions, etc?

heat shield on the manifold isnt necessary...and shielding on the back of the turbo is a good idea but not a necessity....
what ever company did your install should take the time to clean up wires....or anything needed for the install...when toyomoto does the kits in house they clean up everything and leave no loose ends....as well as tune the kit
i never had a fuel regulator on my car ever and made 440rwhp on 440 cc injectors...your not running out of fuel...is sounds more like your too rich
whats your A/F ratio?..if you didnt have enough fuel you wouldnt get 7mpg.....your running rich
what intake tube dont you have?.....theres a snorkle included in the kit from the turbo to the air filter
the BOV is part of the intercooler piping that you didnt get with the kit.....
so basicly...what tuning did you do?.....if you dynoed it ...they didnt have a wideband 02 sensor?......it sounds like your running too rich and who ever is doing the install needs to complete there work.......
also did you send back the tools that lance sent you?
Jeff

Hermosa, what did you end up doing about the MAF? Whaich one are you using and how did you get it to work??
Also, what fuel pump are you using?
I think I have to agree with Jeff, sounds like you're running *waayy* rich. Did you get A/F measurements from the dyno?

That's why I said it was 7MPG before tuning. It is leaner now. Did you guys install on an OBDII? The intake materials that were provided are too long to fit in the car so I did not use the LS400 MAF yet. I am running at 9psi.
So what can I expect with 440CC injectors, OBDII comp, S-AFC, 9psi, and reduced compression from headgasket?

Greddy Type S BOV
Custom intake
LS400 MAF
Custom Heatshield for manifold and turbo
Heatshield sleeve for turbo
Heatshield for wiring and connectors near turbo
Fuel Pressure Regulator
They asked $890 for all including parts and install. A good price, yes or no?

the reason your running like crap is your using a stock 330cc MAF and you have 440cc injectors......thats your entirs problem...what happened to the using a obd1 computer....if you use an OBD1 computer and fit an old stlye clip from a 95 sc300MAF....and it will plug into the 400MAF..and youll be good.........and ill tell you agian the other stuff is optional......but your installer should have squared that stuff up.....
also did you send the tools back yet?...
