Clearly this air filter is too small...?

its not your air filter so dont waste the money on gas driving someplace to get a different one... more then likely its your original fuel filter F ing things up.. you said its struggling while pinned not enough fuel would do that.. the filter is 20 bucks at a local parts store and takes like 10min to change.

on a similar subject it needs to be said that with a filter that small in an open environment like that engine bay it will take not time to clog that sucker up. In a dusty environment you could do it in an hour.
