Default EXHAUST for sc400

hey guys,

I'm in the process of changing my stock exhaust to the following:

-Replacing both cats(with high flow cats) front of engine bay

-Removing center resonator with this(see attached pic).
Got this idea from LS forum.

-Mufflers are going to be magnaflows street series

Has anyone done this?(refering to picture)

Any disadvantages or Advantages???

Is there any performance difference since I'm altering Y-OEM into dual 2.5" pipes?

thanks,
007

A balance pipe will increase hp for the V8, x-pipe works better than an H-pipe. The balance pipe should be very close to the original merging of the two pipes.
It would appear from the photo that there will be no balance pipe or it will be too far back. This may not be optimum.

What is a H pipe?
What is a X pipe?

Will it make a diff in a TT car?

H pipe is two banks of V8 exhaust connected by a straight bit of extra pipe - from the bottom the connection looks like a letter H.

X- pipe is what Nascar use - the two pipes merge and separate - looks like the letter X.

Twin turbo exhaust merge at beginning of exhaust after dump pipe anyway and single system after that - no need for x pipe.

My input is to actually go in person and hear the magnaflow mufflers on an SC..

It sounds more like a 50's drag car than a japanese sports car.

Try a japanese exhaust..they are much more deep.

So you are saying that the X merger is to far back in the pic? or is it where it should be?

thanks
