Default 1jz cam sensors

I realized yesterday that my rear cam sensor hasnt been plugged in the whole time the 1jz has been in the car. I havent noticed any issues the whole time the motor has been in the car and its been in the car for almost a year.

Sooo i decided to plug in the sensor. However when I started the car it was having a very hard time starting and when it finally did it the idle was at 300 rpms and wouldnt rev any higher.

I now have it unplugged and the car is running how it used to be. But I am confused I was under the impression that both sensors are needed.

Is this an indication that my rear cam sensor is bad? Im assuming that it is. Is it bad to run with just 1 cam sensor?

Moved to maintenance section.
I think there is a built in failsafe, where the ecu can run off of one cam sensor but its not optimal. maybe try swapping the sensors and see if it still runs good how its currently setup. if it doesn't run and it runs with the old one I would assume the unplugged one is bad.
