Your engine thermostat could be stuck open. Or your engine temp sensor could be broken.
I'm leaning more towards engine temp sensor being broken, when the thermostat is stuck open the car will still get up in temperature a bit, just never quite to operating temp.

Recently had the same problem. Changed temp sensor but no change. Bought a new thermostat and everything is good now. Hint: If the temp gauge does move then it's probably the thermostat.

Ok, so i bought a new temperature sensor. When i Was ready to put it on I noticed that the connection to my old sensor was cut. (The wire itself.) So I soldered the wire together now it works. It goes up slowly now.

Thank you for the help.

How slowly does it go up? You should be at full running temp with in 2 miles of driving.

when it isn't driving it takes a few minutes to get past the first bar.

Also, when i turn the gears ( switching from park to drive or reverse) the car jerks forward. not the tires but the body itself.

Check your motor and tranny mounts. Known problem to wear out.

Rough shifts-tranny/engine mounts.

Not heating up-Thermostat

Had rough shifting problem, was tranny mounts. Have the temp not exceeding much over C, it's the thermo.

Usually if you're just looking for regular/DD tranny mounts, MTC is fine. They're the cheapest as well.

As for the thermo, I just use AutoZone. Cheapskate, we all try to be.
