Default strong fumes inside of car

I some strong fumes coming inside of the car. I'm not sure if they are exhaust fumes or what. they are really making my head hurt though. I don't know where it is coming from but I know I smell a little something on the outside of the car when it happens when it is hot outside anyone with any idea of what this could be?

Does it smell like gasoline? What have you done to the car recently? Anymore info on the vehicle? Mine smells like gas when I down shift and stop suddenly in hot weather but I have a straight piped exhaust so that is my cause.

Its like gas mixed with something else also my cats are empty but they were like that since I bought the car the smell started to happen well after I bought the car. I'm nor sure if that's anything to do with it. What kind of shop outside of the stealership could I take it to?

You're in Texas. Maybe a Firestone could check it out. Or even a 10-Minute Man Lube. I personally have had good experiences with both these shops so you could try that to get an extra set of eyes to look her over.

EGR Pipe could be broken or you have a manifold exhaust leak? When I had my rush headers installed, it took care of the similar situation I had because I deleted my EGR and had new manifold exhaust gasket put in.

I have read a similar post of someone changing out with gasket for the fuel pump cover. I have a similar problem and that is gonna be my first attempt to fix.. You can get the gasket at most auto parts store but they may have to order it. still shouldn't be more than $20..

Is there any way to diagnose this?

Does it smell like exhaust fumes? Also I read that the EGR pipe cracking due to old age is a common problem with 1UZ.
