Default engine build opinions

well guys my set up is a sc300 r154 with a 1jzgte single turbo, turned out when I was on the dyno a injector was bad and I got rod knock so im debating weather to go 1.5jz or 2jzgte. and for standalone ill be running a pro efi 128. my goals are basically a 800-900hp capable motor. I have a precsion 6266 turbo so I kno in order for me to see at least 750+ id need to upgrade turbo. however my fuel system is 800hp ready as well as clutch/tranny. now the question is.......... should I just go 1.5jz or 2jzgte? I know id save ALOT of money by going 1.5jz. and how difficult will it be to do a 2j bottom? I know its straight forward.

If indeed you have a rod knock, then I would rebuild it . I say this because you know where you are at with this particular motor. If money is no matter, and you have plenty of it, then buy another engine and go with a 2JZGTE. If you don't have cams, then this is the route I would go. If my engine let go tomorrow, I would buy a 2JZGTE bottom end, and reuse my 1JZ head and cams. You are getting to get a lot of opinions, and mostly will tell you to go 2JZ, but in the end, its your motor, your car, and you know how deep your pockets are.

I don't know about your current fuel system, but for that power your turbo is too small. I would go with one size lager or BW S366 and increase the fuel lines to a -8 and return to a -6. For fuel pumps, 2 TT internal with get you there and still have a little more room to grow. For the injectors, get ID 1000 top feed. They are known for good power, easy to tune, and provide sufficient power to your goals. Your standalone should be ok, and program it for when you are in high boost and certain throttle range the other pump comes into play. This is only opinion and you can do some of this or none. I think this is plenty of room for you to grow on.

What drivetrain or you going to be using?

Axles?

Rear End?

Clutch?

You say that you want 800-900, but that's even pushing the limit on a stock R154. I would get it rebuilt with all MC parts and so on, to achieve the best power to the ground you throw at it. Some will say a V160 for that goal, but you have to have a lot of others misc. parts to your parts list. The tranny alone will be 4K plus or around that. Then you have to have axles, and rear end. Parts keep adding up.. I say stay within 600-700 and keep the R154 and stay within with your budget and lessen your goals.

best opinion ive herd. you are right I should stay within the 600-700 hp range. I have full supra rear end. suspension is tein flex. new bushings ect. stock axles. I am running id1000cc my fuel lines are -8 and return -6.

so a more realistic goal would be 500-700. without me breaking the bank.
