Did it do this all of a sudden, or progressively got worse over time?
More so at higher speeds, or any speeds?
Have you tried the ignitors?
I had a similar problem and it was a bad ignitor. They are fairly cheap and can be found on other Toyota's. Might be the cheapest way to start. Double check the throttle cable over the engine, Check the voltage across the TPS, clean the MAF, try a different ECU. If the computer is in limp mode, there is a problem. If before it ran fine, then take it somewhere and have the codes pulled. I see you are from Destin, my old stomping ground when I was at Eglin, AFB. Try calling a local Import Shop and see if they will lend you a hand in pulling a codes. Do this first, and then start eliminating other things by troubleshooting.
Do you hear the fuel pump running?
You might want to try the fuel pump ECU mod. Takes about 15 minutes and would eliminate that all together, and you are out ZERO money.

it is always in a (limp mode) now, before it would be fine, and switch back and forth while I was driving... but once it ran good at any speed it was fine until I shut it off or it was the next day,,
