Default How long did your clutch last?

My '95 SC300 has 90K miles on it, and something in the tranny is making a squeaking noise when the clutch is out. The noise goes away when I put a little pressure on the clutch pedal. I think it may be the throwout bearing. In my last manual transmission car, I got 140K out of the clutch, but I don't know it that is applicable to this car. I would like to hear other members' experience with their clutches to help me decide whether or not to replace it.

Also, I'm familiar with how a clutch behaves when you wear all the friction material off of it, but I get the impression that a throwout bearing failure would be more catastrophic and would strand me on the side of the road. Has anyone had a throwout bearing go out?

Thanks for your help,
Wiley

Wiley,

It definitely sounds like the throwout bearing. I'm amazed at the lifespan of the factory clutches on these cars. Mine as it sits, has 116k on it! However, my throwout bearing seems to make the same small squeeking sound your experiencing.

Thanks for the information. My car gets it rough because it's a daily driver in metro Atlanta. The throwout bearing squeaking is just noticable now but I'll keep an eye on it.
