Default My Supra TT Denso Fuel Pump Install

Just wanted to share this install and give you some tips about installing this fuel pump in a 1998 SC300.

(Picture #1) shows the SC300 fuel pump on the bracket and the larger Supra fuel pump below. The Supra fuel pump is pretty much identical except it is fatter and is wired using nuts rather than a plug.

(Picture #2 & 3) shows the Supra pump installed on the bracket, the factory strap is too small so I used a hose clamp to clamp the Supra pump to the bracket, I still somewhat utilized the factory clamp on the pump even though it was not able to fit around the pump. The bottom of the pump will not fit perfectly to the bottom of the bracket, this is ok.

(Picture #4) shows the SC300 plug, this plug will need to cut off and you will need to add ring connectors. I crimped and soldered the connectors to prevent the wire from coming loose. (Picture #5)

(Picture #6) Shows the everything connected. I had to buy 2 nuts and 2 star washers from the hardware store since the pump didn't come with those. Make sure you tighten these tight to avoid them coming loose.

TIP:
- 12 volt fuel pump ECU mod is necessary to make this pump work. I tried to start my car without doing the 12v mod and the pump would not turn on.

Cool deal If you want to reduce vibrations and noise, you can also use a piece of fuel filler hose between the pump and hanger as an insulator.

Thanks for the write up. Can you tell me the part number of the fuel pump? I'm still debating whether to get walbro or denso.

Looks like an intank regulator for a returnless system.

I vote Denso. You will hear them both, but the Walbro is horribly loud. The Denso is more like a dog whistle or CRT hiss.

Thanks. Do you have the part number for Denso? And do I need a specific kit to make it work with my SC400?

I forgot to write the part number down, but I am pretty sure it was part# 195130-1020

You are correct. This is why I went with Denso. I did some research and the Denso got more positive ratings due to reliability, less noise and equal or better performance than Walbro.
