Default 300zx trans apadter

The same company that makes the 350z trans adapter for the 2jz also make one for the 300zx.
http://collinsadapters.com/index.php...-steel-72.html

The reason why im bringing this up because there is a massive abundance of the ka and sr trans where I am from and you can easily get one for 100 bucks while the r154 is 700 bucks+.

I have done a search, and I am just wondering if anyone has done the 300zx trans swap?

even if it had been done its not worth it, 300zx trannys suck and if the ka and sr trannys are not strong enough unless your running around stock.

from what I read, the later versions (after 95) had improve synchro design.
and I have also read that they hold just as much power as the r154 does.

I would verify when the change occurred. I think they had decent upgrade in 98 but that was JDM spec at that point. Not sure if the US spec ones had major upgrades over time since the z31 days. They have weak 3rd gears and synchro issues. Despite this, they easily hold 500rwtq and many have pushed it deep into the 600's.

Although the R154 may have questionably stronger gear set, they have their issues. Some people (including myself) are having issues with the rear seal. Even with a tighter w58 seal, it leaks from pressure inside the trans.

Neither is perfect. Although a CD009 or Getrag might just be as close as they get

well I Think the AR-5 version of the r154 has a different output on it, that may not use that seal. may be an interesting route I have always kept on the table for my r154 swap whenever the time comes.

actually I found one.
probably going to go this route over the r154 since the ar5 is a smoother transmission and its cheaper than the cd009 (since you have to spend 400 bucks on just the adapter itself and another 800 for the transmission)
