Default DIY - Complete Coolant Change 1993 SC400

I've been searching and searching this forum, and others (via Google) So many conflicting articles.

Here's what I've purchased.

New Thermostat and seal
3 gallons - Peak Long Life 50/50 prediluted antifreeze & coolant
Coolant Reservoir - (Courtesy of Turbodremz (many thanks)

So I've got the day off. I'm currently letting my car cool down and just waiting for feedback.

Whats the proper way to drain / flush this system and put these new purchases to good use?

Thanks in advance!

I dont think youll need 3 gallons of antifreeze really, but a nice simeple way to flush the system is by removing the bottom radiator plug to start draining the system, turn on your car so it cycles through. Then just simply put your hose in the radiator fill cap (not on full blast, youll see how much to turn the valve once your doing it) and wait like 10mins.

I did this on my 240 when i had it, and i put a bucket at the bottom, after i was satisfied on how long i flushed it (i had brown dirty water coming out, and i flushed it til the water came out clean) then i turned of the car and removed the hose. Put your.radiator drain plug back in and fill your radiator with coolant, turn on your car again let everything cycle through for like 5 mins then add coolant if necessary. Once thats done and theres no bubbles in the radiator cap yor good to go. Close the cap and your done

Then i looked my bucket witch only caught like 1/10 of the liquid that came out (it got full after like 2 mins, so the rest i just let go to the gutters, it wasnt coolant after that point just dirty water cycling through the motor.) And i looked at all the crap that was in it, soooo much debris, small rocks, sand, and crap . I was.crazy what kinda stuff came out

And as far as the thermostat goes, its simply remove the old one, replace the little o ring, then place the new thermostat exactly in the same position that your old one was in
