I want to know the answer to that question too. There are no O2 sensors before or after it. But would it pass the sniff test in Calif? If not, I guess you could have it built so you can bolt it in and out.

Only your environmental conscience (if any)

Yeah, I'll try to keep the guilt from eating at me . I could just drive my 70 GTO or 66 442 more, They run low 10's and mid 11's with no cats, EGR, or heat riser to warm up the carbs. So , I think even with only 2 cats my SC is still pretty environmentally friendly in comparison. My environment thanks me when I put away the muscle cars and take out the SC, even with 2 cats

BTW my 70 GTO is a convertable and handles like a stock SC, so it's not like I would be driving a race car on the street either

i think it depends on where you live. virginia has some ridiculous laws, one of which im pretty sure states that removing the cats is illegal (regardless of whether or not it will pass emissions without it). i dont want to take my car in for inspection and find out it failed cuz i removed a cat

It must be different on older cars, because my "3rd cat" looks nothing like that one in the diagram. Mine is a 4" oval and is a lot longer and smoother than that.

There is a muffler shop down here in miami who does custom work. THey have a mendrel bender for stainless steel and they quoted me 600 for a exhaust from the downpipe back. $50 bux more for a center resonator and like 80 more for a high flow cat.
