need some wiring help for my fans
Hey everyone, so when I got my car it had came with some electric fans installed and they were wired onto a switch that I would turn on from inside the car. Problem is that the switches keep burning out since I dont think they have the wires running properly. Is there anything else I can hardwire the fans into? Something that would turn them on when the car is on?
Car damn near overheated today since another switch burned out and since my needles dont light up, I didnt notice the temperature rise till it almost touched the red. I just dont want to risk doing worse damage one of these days that I completely miss the temp gauge and im on the side of the road with a smoking broken down car

I used derale 16749 fan switch. Works great. It literally tells you exactly how to wire it in. Only problem is fitting in the temp sensor, I guess other people use the stick and zip tie it to the radiator and works just as good but I like mine more. The best part about that switch is you can control what temp you want your fans to turn on as well as a/c override.

Welcome to CL, your thread is moved to the performance/maintenance section.
please use the proper sub forum in the future.
You need a relay that takes in battery power, and then run battery power to the fans.
the other 2 spots on the relay will be ground, and then whatever you want to turn on the relay.
for the wire for turning on the relay, you can use a switched 12v circuit in the bay if you want them to be on whenever the ignition is on (black/red wire), but may make it harder to start the motor with the fans on.
you can also just take the same signal wire and then run it to a switch and then to the relay, so you can turn it off for starting.
Or you can get one of those temperature probes they sell online that you can wire up to that wire on the relay that will turn it on above a certain temperature. This is how most people set it up so they are automatic.
