well my car is a 93 no emmissions they wont even attempt to connect it since all of the shops will think its an OBD1.
how is it that you can call toyota for 2jz and not 1jz?

2jz is USDM/JDM
1JZ is just JDM, toyota never offered a 1jz in the US so parts cant be picked up locally
now if the car was 25 years old, then it dont matter i dont think, thats coming from Colorado state. so were almost there lol 4 more years

The Ruski shops out here are so lazy, plus if they pop the hood they wont even know what they are looking at. to them it will be this magical sight with rainbows and unicorns.
they cant tell and dont know what a 2J or a 1J is, they can barely tell between a camry and a nissan.
but they give out the stickers so we go to them. and even if they do know what it is, still a 93 why bother connecting it

I love the 1JZGTE VVT-i. Great engine. I went with a USDM 2JZGTE stock twin build because of:
1) Cali emissions, BAR, roadside smog, DragNet and other annoyances
2) Parts availability at any Toyota dealer or 2JZ retailer
Doing it this way means collecting everything nickel and dime style which is anything but budget-conscious and cost effective (if any engine swap project can be realistically though of as "cost effective"). If you can avoid such an extreme route as a USDM 2JZGTE swap in New York I recommend it.
Oh-- and it does help to have that 6-speed timing belt shock absorber on a 2JZGTE swap for either the V160 or R154.

I felt like I was just in JZ 101 reading this thread. all of this info is already on the forum with DIY's for most of these. please use the search function on the forum and post in the respective threads. like check out the 350Z 6spd swap thread. the 300zx is a 5 spd and not the one they use btw.
