Default SC300 1JZ Starter Problem

I replaced my starter on my 1j this evening because I got the one click and done problem with the previous one. I got an OEM starter for a 1j. Installed the bad boy and and got nothing, no turnover nothing. Everything powered up fine, but now crank. Trying to figure it out I noticed the positive battery cable was getting hot. Not normal of course, so I figured I have a bad connection or ground out somewhere. I tightened the cables to the battery clamps, connected the negative and as soon as I touched the positive to the battery post the starter engaged and started spinning. What the hell is going on here? I cant leave it connected because the starter just continually spins. Any ideas or advice would be greatly appreciated!

Did you check the ground connection on the engine block? Sounds like you have a ground connection issue recheck all your connections.

Has the car ever started and run properly since it's been swapped?

sounds like possibly a bad connection or starter. I would have just replaced the contacts in the original one you knew was working.

Well I replaced the starter cause of the one click I received which started this mess. The new starter I put on obviously works cause when I connect the battery back it starts spinning.
