I am going to guess you mean the sc400 in your profile?
these motors do not have rockers.
valve cover gaskets torque is something very small like 7 ft-lbs, i usually use the smallest socket I can find so Its harder to over-torque them easily (think 1/4" drive) and then just get them pretty snug without torquing them too much. do a little at a time on each valve cover bolt in an alternating fashion, don't tighten one end down fully and then go to do the other end or else you can crack the tabs that the bolts go through and then you will need a new valve cover.

apply some RTV where the valve cover gasket sits at the cam caps in the front of the motor. you should be able to see where it was applied before when you take the old ones off.

*edit* what do you know I found a tutorial, its a ls400 but its practically the same.

Thanks Ali. I do know there are no rockers or rods. For some reason when I started the title line it auto filled in rockers. Not an excuse.

Do you use any type of gasket tact ?

oh I see that makes sense. not sure what you mean by gasket tact, I just use the rubber gasket and clean the surfaces on the head and the groove in the valvecover (dont scratch it up), pop in the gasket and put the rtv on the couple spots and place and tighten them down snug.
don't forget its not a bad idea to do the pcv valve and gasket while you are in there.

Thanks. Gasket Tact is just a light adhesive that holds the gasket in place during install. Forgot that the valve cover has a groove to hold the gasket so the tact is not necessary.

yeah due to the groove its not necessary. I also get a little oil on my finger and rub down the whole rubber gasket before sticking it in the groove, just so its lightly coated. I always find this prevents little tears or rips from when you are fitting them in place and also helps make sure you get a good seal.
