Thread is to help others diagnose leaky caps on the 1jzgte ECU.
It was unfortunate to happen on Super Bowl day, diagnosing it hours before being able to relax caused me to miss the game. I simply couldn't sit at ease with the car not running perfectly.
Symptoms: As I was pulling into my neighborhood, it felt like I was hitting a wall at 1500 rpms. On the accelerator it would just peg 1500-1600 rpm and flutter up and down. As I release the gas pedal it would just come down to normal idle/roll. I tried rolling around the neighborhood in every gear O/D, 3, 2, and L it resulted all the same results pegging 1500rpms and fluttering.
Pulled the car into the garage and started checking the basics:
MAP
Grounds
Coil Packs and Plugs
ECU
Once I got to the ECU I checked for looseness of the wires... This time I started it up and the car would idle super low, 200-300rpms.
Swapped in the spare Blitz ECU and voila
Opened up the stock ECU and found this...
Drove the car around with the Blitz ECU and enjoyed my day. Even made the effort to make a little video.
Very common occurrence in these older SC's. When an old SC is newly acquired with issues, it would be best to just rebuild the ECU (or replace it). It's not unusual, it's just maintenance, really.
