Default 1997 SC400 Transmission Issues

My 1997 SC400 (automatic transmission) will go into reverse but will not shift into any forward drive gear. I replaced both shift solenoids, filter and fluid. I visually inspected the linkage after I put the transmission pan back on. I did not think of checking it while I had the pan off. It appears to be working properly on the outside of the transmission. The transmission fluid smelled burnt. I was wondering if I should have replaced the lockup solenoid or is there something else I should be checking before I take it to a transmission shop.
