Default Have a couple questions.. (95 5 speed sc300)

Hi, I bought my 95' 5 speed sc300 a week ago.

I've been searching more about these cars and trying to find out what they are, capable of, and so on.

My questions are..

Is my tranny a R154 or a W58?

Also, are MK4 Supra afermarket parts a direct bolt on for our SC's?
I can't find many sc300 aftermarket parts..

Sorry if they are dumb questions, I just can't find out.

Not dumb questions at all .... but with more reading and research you would have found the answers to your questions.

To help out .. no USDM SC300 came with the R154 from the factory .. they are all W58 and yes MOST MKIV parts are direct bolt on.,.. but NOT ALL .

Suspension is mostly bolt-on. I have MKIV coilovers on my 95 300.

Welcome and congratulations on the purchase, Luxurious!

As Gerrb says, MOST MKIV parts can be swapped over. Pick a subsection of the chassis you want to focus on and you'll find plenty written up.

There are many shared components with the MKIV Supra. Front suspension parts in particular although there are minor shock height differences. The front suspension control arms are the same but the rear the rear suspension control arms are different between the two cars.

Non-turbo engines are the same. SC chassis was built for the 1JZ-GTE turbo engine but anything 2JZ-GTE can be swapped in. Any NA-T conversion that can be done to a non-turbo Supra MKIV can be done to an SC.

Braking systems are interchangeable between the Supra Turbo and SC. Front brakes from 95-2000 LS400's also swap over and are very similar to the TT front brakes.

The MKIII Supra Turbo R154 5-speeds can be adapted and bolt right into 92-94 SC3 5-speeds with the exception of the transmission mount. R154 transmissions from an early Soarer bolt right into early SC3 5-speeds and use the SC3 transmission mount. Late model "tripod" R154's bolt right into 95-97 SC3 5-speeds and use the SC3 transmission mount. Any transmission tunnel cutting to any SC will adapt any of these transmissions. The Supra V160 and V161 will fit too but they are a small fortune to acquire.

Since you have a 1995 5-speed your car has the redesigned W58 "tripod" style 5-speed. Again, JDM R154's also came in the "tripod" style in later years.

Supra seats bolt right in. Supra TT wheels are a perfect fit. Exhaust systems are mostly interchangeable. Steering wheels are interchangeable. SC's can be converted to use Supra MKIV rear sway bars and we also have a couple of SC specific aftermarket swaybars.

There's a lot out there. In the sense of interchangeability with the MKIV (and separated-at-birth twin the RHD Soarer) the SC is a canvas.
