Default Few questions related to Fuel Pump (SC400)

Hey CL,

I'm in need of replacing the fuel pump in my SC400 but I had a few questions before I purchased one. These range from anywhere between $60-$150, the cheaper being direct OE replacement and the higher being a performance based.

Much later in the future, I'll be wanting to swap out the 1UZ to a 1J/2J and build the motor to shoot for around 400-500 WHP. Would I be better off purchasing a performance fuel pump (AEM comes to mind) meant for FI cars, despite driving the 1UZ (NA)? Or would I need to simply replace the existing pump with an OE replacement until I swap to a FI motor? I'm only considering this to save a few $$ down the road

Since I'll be going through the back seat instead of taking out the fuel tank completely, is there any other preventive maintenance I could do in that area while I'm working on this? Perhaps, upgrading to steel braided fuel lines?

Lastly, I've been reading various fuel pump threads regarding an ECU mod.... can anybody clarify what mod this is and what its purpose?

Pumps are cheap. Just get a cheap OEM pump or Aeromotive and start reading and planning your Turbo build. You have TONS of reading to do before you start buying thing as illustrated by your question. As you figure this Turbo build out, your plan will change 50 times. When you can verbalize a full plan that works, it's time to start buying.

Since you NEED to replace your fuel pump , get the OEM Supra TT Denso pump . It will support your 400-500 power goal in the future. You don't need to mess around with the lines if they are not bad. They will support your 400-500 power goal.
